Transition elements

For the paragraph on transition elements, it says the transition elements are groups IB to VIIIB.  Where are these groups located on the periodic table?
-------------

The “A” groups are the ones in the s and p block.  That is, group IA starts with Hydrogen, group VIA starts with oxygen, and group VIIA starts with fluorine.  The “B” groups are in the d block.  The first one is IIIB, and it increases to VIIIB.  Group VIIIB encompasses everything in the iron-, cobalt-, and nickel- groups.  Finally, group IB starts with copper and group IIB starts with zinc.  So, if you read across the periodic table, the groups go in this order:
IA, IIA, IIIB, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB, VIIIB, VIIIB, VIIIB, IB, IIB, IIIA, IVA, VA, VIA, VIIA, VIIIA (or “0”)
The electron configuration tells you which group it’s in – for example, [Ar]4s23d3 refers to an element in the d block, with 5 valence electrons (2+3 = 8), so it must be group VB (this would be for vanadium, by the way).
